If the Habs players are happy to have PK Subban returning to the team they’re sure doing a good job of burying their enthusiasm.

Subban rejoins the team today in Ottawa – and the players need to show more support for their teammate than they showed with their comments yesterday.

Have a listen to my column from Daybreak this morning…

Montreal’s expansion franchise in National Basketball League of Canada is struggling. Eleven games into the season, the Jazz are still searching for their first victory.

General Manager Pascal Jobin is starting to feel the heat as morale on the squad tanks.

To turn things around, Jobin is re-working his roster.  He brought in American guard Chris Hagan and this week forward J.R. Harrison is expected to join the team. Additionally, centre Jonas Pierre has been called in for try-out.

Jobin says the team is close to being competitive in the NBLC but since they were thrown together at the last minute to replace the Quebec Kebs, who folded, catching up to the competition hasn’t been easy.

Even at 0-11, the playoffs are not out of reach. Five of eight teams in the NBLC will make the post-season.

What is it going to take for this team to win? Have a listen to the story…

Finally! Israeli fighter pilots and Canadian hockey players will have something to talk about the next time they sit down to shoot the breeze.

Ok… that particular situation may not come up that often…

But it is true that a computer program which was originally used for training Israel’s military could change the way we train hockey players.

Hockey Intelligym took a program made for pilots and have re-designed it for hockey. Its creators reject the idea that hockey sense is a genetic gift which can’t be improved upon or learned.

Two teams in Canada are testing out the training program and I went to see how it was working out.

Sportscasters beware! The days of describing the start of something as ‘kicking off’ could be numbered.

In an effort to increase player safety NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has proposed rule changes which would remove the kickoff from the game.

Listen to what these changes could mean…

AND…

At the same time as Goodell, in the name of safety, pushes to change the rules of the game… the league is also chasing TV dollars with Thursday Night Games.

This is a problem… short weeks are player safety issue.

Listen to my column on how these two philosophies of safety and short work weeks don’t mix.

The National Basketball League of Canada is trying its luck in Montreal. The league unveiled its new franchise, the Montreal Jazz, yesterday.

The Jazz are replacing the Quebec City Kebs after the league dissolved that franchise two weeks ago.

It could be a rough go for the Jazz in year one. They do not have an owner, they didn’t have a training camp like the other 7 teams in the NBLC and Montrealers have a history of not supporting pro-basketball.

But league commissioner Andre Livingston is optimistic that this time it will catch on. And Jazz general manager, Pascal Jobin, says fans will like the fact he’s loaded the team with local francophone players.
